Michael Piper
I thought I should add this portrait as it is quite a recent one, especially with Remembrance Sunday coming up. The elderly gentleman with the glass eye was a very interesting character to paint. He was blown up in the war 1944 as a civilian as a child. Here he is seated in his house, in his grandfather's chair, a true English gentleman.

The first blog
Today I was advised to start writing a blog. It isn't something that I have paid particular attention to doing before, however raising one's profile is all important so I am giving it a go. I am a portrait artist living in London. I have been here for about 5 years now and am concentrating on my career. I have done two major public works so far, the most recent is a portrait of a Lady Professor (above) which will be hung in the Institute of Antiquaries, next to the Royal Academy of Arts in December after it is unveiled. It is a most exciting commission and one which I hope will bring in more work for me. I have been a member of SFSA www.secondfloor.co.uk since February this year. It has been an amazing place to work, not only because of it's location but largely because of the other members.
